mint block (stamp)Note: The middle stamp shows the grace image of the Virgin Mary (German: "Gnadenbild der Maria") at the main altar (one of three) in the chapel "Mary to comfort" on (the) Dux in Schaan (German: "Kapelle Maria zum Trost auf Dux in Schaan" = German shortly: "Duxkapelle"). This grace image was created around 1740 in the style of the baroque. One of the main characteristics at this image is that Mary is pictured with a threefold cloud corona (is not full pictured on the stamp). The right stamp shows this church on (the) Dux. The Roman-Catholic chapel "Mary to comfort" on (the) Dux in Schaan (German: "Kapelle Maria zum Trost auf Dux in Schaan" = German shortly: "Duxkapelle") was built in 1716 on the fundaments of a former church. The chapel was restaured in 1909, 1943, 1974, and very radical in 1996-1998. The chapel was reconsecrated in 1978 which was repeated in September 1985 by Pope Johannes Paulus II personally. The left stamp of this block issue shows the coat of arms of this Pope. The Holy Mary was declared as (protection) patroness for people and country on Dux in 1940 by Prince Franz Josef II of Liechtenstein.Stamp: Michel: Block 12 (= No. 878 + 879 + 880); Yvert & Tellier: BF 15 (= 819 + 820 + 821); Scott: No. 816 (= 816a + 816b + 816c)Color: multicolored with goldWatermark: noneNominal value: 3.00 (Franken, Francs) = 50 + 170 + 80 (Rappen, Centimes)Postage validity: from 2 September 1985 until 31 December 2001Stamp picture sizes (printed areas without signature line):
